And so it begins! Another emergency medicine educational blog is born to share the infinite wisdom of the faculty and residents at the Mercy St. Vincent Emergency Medicine Residency in Toledo, Ohio. The field of EM is at the forefront of the #FOAMed movement, and it is in that vein that we create this educational resource. Mercy St. Vincent is fortunate to have the best of all worlds: we are a large community hospital that treats county population patients through academic-oriented faculty and residents. This unique intersection offers us much to learn and over the coming years, we hope to share educational pearls, conference activities, and opinions from our residency program.
Our weekly Grand Rounds (#EMConf) takes place every Wednesday morning. During these sessions, we explore a myriad of topics, participate in monthly simulation activities, discuss and critically appraise research articles, and review cases from our very own ED. While faculty lead many of the lectures and discussions, we are fortunate to have significant, original contributions from the residents.
Our residency program is one big family and we are proud of our most recent class of graduates! We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors!
