Meet the Team
Our Mission
The Mercy St. Vincent residents and faculty seek to provide our emergency medicine community with high-quality educational materials and critical appraisal of the latest research. We hope to foster an open environment conducive to sharing and learning different clinical practices, perspectives, and knowledge. As part of the Free Open Access Medical Education (FOAMed) movement, we are proud to share our original educational materials free of charge.
Editorial Process
In an effort to create accurate and exceptional educational materials, we utilize a peer-review process involving both resident and faculty editors. When available, content experts will evaluate the post as well. These posts will then be clearly marked with an "Expert Peer Review" badge (borrowed from a role-model educational blog, ALiEM) and the name, title, and credentials of the reviewer. Editors may write additional commentary at the end of the post to provide more information or different perspectives. We strive to maintain high quality standards, similar to, but not limited to, those outlined in Thoma, et al (2015).
Comment Guidelines
We invite you to participate in the discussion and provide your perspective on various topics. Please be respectful and professional with your comments. Comments that are derogatory or insulting will be removed. Please report any comments that are unprofessional or irrelevant.
